چکیده
Introduction: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) has a poor prognosis despite optimal treatment. Recent studies have shown the potential of phytochemicals as anti-cancer agents. α-solanine, derived from plants Solanum genus, is promising molecule in this regard. This study investigated efficacy α-solanine compared to temozolomide (TMZ) against GBM cell lines (U87MG, U251, and T98G) vitro.
Methods: In-vitro assays were conducted assess viability, migration, invasion, mode death U87MG, U251 T98G following treatment comparison TMZ. Rt-qPCR proteome profiling investigate changes induced by on molecular level.
Results: demonstrated potent cytotoxicity all lines, with IC50 values ranging 19.66 µM 22.87 between tested, significantly inhibited migration TMZ RNA protein level indicated upregulation both apoptotic autophagy proteins, suggesting involvement BECN1 BNIP3L α-solanine-induced death.
Discussion Conclusion: These findings contribute search for effective treatments. Future should increase number biological replicates, employ alternative methods strengthen findings, conduct vivo experiments testing using patient-derived tissue better evaluate any therapeutic suitability fully understand action GBM.

Honokiol-induced apoptosis and autophagy in glioblastoma multiforme cells
Honokiol, a hydroxylated biphenyl compound isolated from the Chinese herb Magnolia officinalis, has been reported to have anticancer activities in a variety of cancer cell lines. The present study aimed to evaluate the anticancer effect and possible molecular mechanisms of honokiol in a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cell line. The anticancer activities of honokiol were investigated in the DBTRG...
متن کاملmiR-340 suppresses glioblastoma multiforme
Deregulation of microRNAs (miRs) contributes to tumorigenesis. Down-regulation of miR-340 is observed in multiple types of cancers. However, the biological function of miR-340 in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) remains largely unknown. In the present study, we demonstrated that expression of miR-340 was downregulated in both glioma cell lines and tissues. Survival of GBM patients with high levels...
متن کاملPenfluridol suppresses pancreatic tumor growth by autophagy-mediated apoptosis
Pancreatic tumors exhibit enhanced autophagy as compared to any other cancer, making it resistant to chemotherapy. We evaluated the effect of penfluridol against pancreatic cancer. Penfluridol treatment induced apoptosis and inhibited the growth of Panc-1, BxPC-3 and AsPC-1, pancreatic cancer cells with IC50 ranging between 6-7 μM after 24 h of treatment. Significant autophagy was induced by pe...
متن کاملParthenolide suppresses pancreatic cell growth by autophagy-mediated apoptosis
Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive malignancy and is unresponsive to conventional chemotherapies. Parthenolide, a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from feverfew, has exhibited potent anticancer effects against various cancers. The purpose of this report was to investigate the effect and underlying mechanism of parthenolide in human pancreatic cancer Panc-1 and BxPC3 cells. The results demonstrate...
متن کاملAn Interplay between Senescence, Apoptosis and Autophagy in Glioblastoma Multiforme—Role in Pathogenesis and Therapeutic Perspective
Autophagy, cellular senescence, programmed cell death and necrosis are key responses of a cell facing a stress. These effects are partly interconnected, but regulation of their mutual interactions is not completely clear. That regulation seems to be especially important in cancer cells, which have their own program of development and demand more nutrition and energy than normal cells. Glioblast...
